United Kingdom Introduction
The United Kingdom is made up of England, Scotland, Wales, and
Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom has been in the European Union since 1973
and in 2019, it will be leaving the European Union. The decision was made from
a referendum that was held June 23 of 2016, where a question was asked of whether
the United Kingdom should stay or leave the European Union. 30 billion people
came to vote, and it was decided that 51% of people wanted the United Kingdom
to leave the EU (BBC). Since this decision has been made, the name Brexit has come
to the light of the news. Brexit means the UK is leaving the EU or in other words, Britain
is exiting the EU.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you learn about the effects of Brexit and how it will change the UK and the EU!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more too! Did you know that the UK, in 1973, entered what was THEN called the ECSC (European Coal and Steel Community)...before there was an EU? The old name provides a bit of a hint about the nature of trade just 40 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThat is so interesting to know about the UK. I think that the EU is such a fascinating entity, and there is much to learn on it. I am also looking forward to more information on Brexit.
